Welcome to...
Intoduction to the Taurus Club
During my senior year, I came to be the proud PO (primary operator) of a Ford Taurus. I noticed many other Tauruses in the parking lot at my high school, and felt that an organization of some kind for the owners or PO's of these fine vehicles was in order. I created and handed out applications for this club to students and faculty of the school that were known to be Taurus drivers. Since those days, The Taurus Club has grown to an international orgainzation with many members. And now, it has a home on the web. This website was designed by me, Rachel Hadaway, President of The Taurus Club. The links at the top of the page look very nice but I can't get them to do anything. Your best bet is just to scroll to the various parts of the page that you'd like to look at.
You can show your support for The Taurus Club by becoming a member yourself, recruiting other members, parking next to other Tauruses in parking lots, waving at Taurus drivers when you meet them on the road, and most of all spreading the word about what a great car the Ford Taurus is. People who are not currently Taurus Owners/Operators, for whatever reason, are welcome to join The Taurus Club Auxiliary. Members of both orgainzations are invited to place a banner on their webpage identifying them as a member.

Club Stuff
Every good club needs a theme song. Here are some suggestions for The Taurus Club's theme song.
My Taurus Experiences On August 24, 1998, the first day of my senior year, I received my very first Ford Taurus. My dad got it from Stivers Lincoln-Mercury in Des Moines, IA. This is the Taurus my brother currently drives. I was the one who named it Gibby. The reason for this is because the letters on its license plate are GBY. It was the first Taurus that our family had ever owned and the first one I'd ever driven. I was very impressed. It had a lot of miles but still drove very well. And it didn't have any strange smells, either. The more I drove my Taurus, the more I noticed others on the road. I found that I liked the looks of the older ones (1995 and earlier) much better. An adventure that I had in Gibby was when Kim and I went to Manning to visit the calc people. We drove all the way in Gibby, then parked at Tonya's house. Tonya drove us around in the Lumina. We had pretty much seen all of Manning when suddenly I noticed another Mocha Taurus parked on the street. "That looks like my car!" I exclaimed, not realizing that not only did it *look* like my car, it was my car. We all had a good laugh about this. Then, when we returned from getting pizza, I saw this mysterious lookalike car again, but caught myself in time by muttering, "I'm not gonna say it. I'm not gonna say it." It was a great day.
Sometime in April, my dad got rid of the 1985 Mercury Grand Marquis that I drove prior to Gibby and bought a 1995 Taurus in Cranberry from Jim Wagner Nissan in Ames. Jonathan then inherited Gibby and I now drive the unnamed '95 Taurus. I have enjoyed driving it very much. The features it adds are airbags and remote keyless entry. Also it obviously doesn't have as much wear, making it a nicer car. Hopefully this is a car that is going to last me a long time.
Taurus Links Here are a few links that should be fun and informative for Taurus owners/operators.
Taurus Club Featured Link! Chris and Chris's Ford Taurus Owners Club These guys rock. They have pictures and a short essay for each member in the club. A must see for all Taurus lovers!
A Taurus Club on Yahoo!. It's pretty cool because it's only for the "classic" Tauruses, 1986-1995. I might join it, haven't yet. You are welcome to, though.
Ford Taurus Performance Page. A very cool site. A must-see for car guys, gals, and "tinkerers" of all kinds.
A page on the SHO. I linked it because of the page's "Wheels" section, a detailed list of all the cars and motorcylcles he has owned. It's quite interesting.
Acknowledgements I couldn't have created The Taurus Club alone. Here are some of the fine people who helped.
